Herringbone/End Grain Cutting Boards
Our end grain boards are made from ¾” squares laminated together. End grain boards provide several advantages. Because the end of the wood makes up the surface of the board, knives go between fibers instead of across them. Additionally, end grain surfaces are 10x harder than side grain surfaces. These two features make end grain boards hard-wearing with less visible knife marks. We use an enhanced version of our kitchenware oil (with beeswax added) on our end grain boards. End grain boards should be oiled more frequently than side grain boards due to absorption.
Our herringbone pattern boards are made using ¾” strips of wood in a multiple stage laminating process. The short pieces that make up the “v” pattern help with the stability of the board and prevent warping in addition to forming the striking pattern that gives them their name. Our herringbone boards are sealed using our special curing Kitchenware oil for low maintenance.
